The community of Phenix City is mourning the loss of Contina Robinson, who was fatally shot late Sunday night on 17th Avenue South.

According to police, officers and first responders were dispatched to the scene just before 11 p.m. on February 15. Robinson was found suffering from critical gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:49 p.m.

An immediate homicide investigation was launched. In the early hours of Monday morning, authorities arrested Willie James Davis, 51, who has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting. He is currently being held without bond at the Russell County Jail.

Robinson’s body was transported to the state forensic laboratory in Montgomery for further examination. Investigators say the case remains active, and police continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
