Sfenson Simeus Obituary, Death; 26-Year-Old Killed in Interstate Shooting

A senseless act of violence has taken the life of Sfenson Simeus, leaving family, friends, and the community of Lake Worth and beyond in mourning. Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late at night along Interstate 65 in Giles County.

According to investigators, deputies responded around 11:30 p.m. to reports of a vehicle crash involving injuries. Further investigation revealed that the crash occurred after shots were fired from another vehicle. Sfenson Simeus, who was driving, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, Elda Simeus, 23, of Plainfield, was injured during the incident and transported to a nearby medical facility. Authorities confirmed she remains in stable condition.

Loved ones remember Sfenson as ambitious, resilient, and deeply compassionate—a devoted son and friend who consistently brought positivity to those around him. Joe Purvis, condemned the shooting, describing it as “a senseless and cowardly act,” and emphasized that the investigation remains active as officials work to identify those responsible.
