According to reports, the family had been separated after Kevin traveled to Chicago to visit relatives, where he was later diagnosed with terminal cancer only months ago.
As his condition worsened rapidly, his parents in Mexico reportedly sought emergency visas in hopes of being by his side. However, those requests were denied due to prior deportations. Facing the possibility of never seeing their son again, they attempted to cross the border in an effort to reunite with him.
While his parents remained detained, Kevin made the difficult decision to leave the hospital in Chicago and return to Mexico, hoping he could survive long enough to see his family one final time.

After his parents were released and returned to Mexico, the family was finally reunited on Saturday. Tragically, by Mother’s Day, Kevin had passed away surrounded by the people who fought so hard to be with him during his final days.
