Saul Consuelos Obituary, Death – Mark Consuelos is speaking candidly about the heartbreaking loss of his father, Saul Consuelos, weeks after announcing his passing alongside wife Kelly Ripa on Live with Kelly and Mark.
During a recent appearance on the podcast *I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario*, Consuelos reflected on the emotional final months of his father’s life, describing it as a “brutal five-month saga” leading up to his passing.
The actor shared that while the family knew the loss was coming due to his father’s declining health, the reality of saying goodbye was still deeply painful. Consuelos revealed that he had prayed for “a merciful exit” for his father and expressed gratitude that his passing happened “very quickly and painlessly.”
Speaking emotionally about Saul Consuelos, Mark described him as “the best man I’ve ever met” and credited his father with shaping the values and character he carries today.
“My father’s a mythical character to me,” Consuelos said during the interview. “Everything good that I’ve kind of glommed onto of how I carry myself comes from him.”
The television host admitted that one of the hardest realizations following the memorial service was finally acknowledging how much he misses his father.
“I miss my dad,” he said. “I’ve never said that before because he’s always been in my life.”
Consuelos explained that continuing rehearsals for the Broadway revival of Fallen Angels helped him cope with grief by giving him something to focus on during the difficult period. However, gathering with family for Saul’s memorial service made the loss feel even more real.
He also shared that he continues to think about his father before performances, often looking toward the audience and imagining him watching proudly from the crowd.
Saul Consuelos was remembered by family as a hardworking immigrant who came to the United States from Mexico as a teenager before serving in the U.S. Navy for 30 years. Mark praised his father’s dedication to education, service, and family, noting that he earned his master’s degree while raising children.
During the emotional April tribute on *Live with Kelly and Mark*, Kelly Ripa also honored her father-in-law, calling him “the greatest person I’ve ever known” and praising the influence he had on their family and children.
As tributes continue pouring in from fans and supporters, many have expressed sympathy and admiration for the heartfelt way Mark Consuelos has chosen to honor his father’s legacy and memory.
