According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (Canfield Post), troopers responded around 9 p.m. to McGuffey Road, just west of State Line Road, after reports of a serious crash involving a vehicle that had left the roadway. Investigators said the eastbound vehicle veered off the left side of the road, struck a mailbox, overturned, and then collided with a culvert before hitting a telephone pole.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, where the vehicle was found severely damaged near the utility pole. A nearby witness video showed the wreckage resting against the pole as first responders worked to assess the situation and provide aid.
Moreland, who was a passenger in the vehicle, sustained critical injuries in the crash. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.
