According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (Canfield Post), troopers responded around 9 p.m. to McGuffey Road, just west of State Line Road, after reports of a serious crash involving a vehicle that had left the roadway. Investigators said the eastbound vehicle veered off the left side of the road, struck a mailbox, overturned, and then collided with a culvert before hitting a telephone pole.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, where the vehicle was found severely damaged near the utility pole. A nearby witness video showed the wreckage resting against the pole as first responders worked to assess the situation and provide aid.
Moreland, who was a passenger in the vehicle, sustained critical injuries in the crash. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. The driver also sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital, where officials said the injuries were not life-threatening.
