Ashton’s condition required extended hospital treatment, including a six-month inpatient stay far from family and friends. During this time, Conroy described the emotional toll of watching her child endure intensive chemotherapy, hair loss, and severe illness while remaining focused solely on his care and survival.
Although Ashton initially went into remission, the relief was short-lived. Just months later, the leukemia returned more aggressively, leading to another difficult battle. Despite ongoing treatment and continued hope, Ashton tragically passed away after months of renewed medical struggle.
Conroy described the experience as “pure hell,” sharing the emotional weight of witnessing her child’s suffering while continuing to fight for his recovery. She emphasized that many families face similar battles, often with heartbreaking outcomes.
Now, in Ashton’s memory, Conroy is raising funds for Blood Cancer United to support research and improve treatment options for children facing similar diagnoses. She hopes that increased funding and awareness will lead to better outcomes and alternatives to current treatments.
As part of the campaign, Conroy shared that for every $50,000 raised, a special portfolio will be created in Ashton’s name, ensuring that his short life is remembered and honored.
