According to Naida Rutherford, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. as Alma was traveling westbound along Vandoval Road. Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that her vehicle veered off the roadway for reasons still under investigation, struck a ditch, and subsequently caught fire.
