Romeo Mason Fleck death
Grief has spread through Harrisburg and beyond after a devastating early-morning crash claimed the lives of Romeo Mason Fleck and two other young men along NC-87 in Harnett County.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred early Saturday when a Toyota Camry carrying soldiers from Fort Bragg crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Chevrolet head-on.

Fleck, who was driving the Camry, and back-seat passenger Charles Jackson were pronounced dead at the scene. William T. Underwood, of Sanford, also died as a result of the crash. A fourth passenger remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Fleck’s death has been felt deeply in Harrisburg, where he was raised and first embraced a life of service. Remembered for his compassion, loyalty, and determination, he pursued military service with a sense of purpose, forming close bonds with fellow soldiers while staying closely connected to his hometown.

Charles Jackson is remembered within the Fort Bragg community for his dedication and steadfast friendship, while William Underwood’s passing has left a lasting impact on loved ones in Sanford.

As families and friends come together to grieve, the tragedy serves as a somber reminder of lives defined by service, connection, and promise—lives that will not be forgotten.
