
The Grant County community is reeling after a tragic single-vehicle crash on February 16, 2026, claimed the lives of three young adults and left another seriously injured.
According to the Indiana State Police, a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound on County Road 600 South near County Road 1150 East when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Authorities identified the victims as Alexander McGuin of Gas City, James M. Clark Jr. of Dunkirk, and Gracelynn N. Daniels of New Castle. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sole survivor, Michael L. Reading of Hartford City, was airlifted by Lutheran Air to a nearby hospital, where he continues to receive medical care.
Multiple law enforcement and fire agencies responded swiftly to the crash site. Investigators are examining potential contributing factors, including speed and possible substance use, as the investigation remains ongoing.
