The Richmond, Illinois, area is mourning the sudden loss of Jose Angel Gonzalez, 50, of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, who died on Tuesday morning after his vehicle left the roadway due to a medical emergency. His unexpected passing has left family, friends, and the local community in shock.
Emergency responders from the Richmond Township Fire Protection District and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene near 374th Avenue and State Line Road at approximately 6:52 a.m. Reports indicate that Gonzalez’s 2012 GMC Terrain SUV veered off County Highway HM, crossed State Line Road, and came to rest about 50 yards into Illinois within a conservation area. An off-duty member of the Twin Lakes Fire Department was already providing lifesaving care when first responders arrived. Despite the team’s efforts, Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Assistance Team found no evidence of alcohol, drugs, or speeding. Coroner Dr. Michael Rein confirmed that Gonzalez showed no apparent injuries from the collision itself, indicating that a sudden medical event caused the accident.
Gonzalez’s body was released to his family for funeral arrangements. Community members have expressed sorrow over the untimely loss of a husband, father, and friend whose life touched many.
