Joel Mack and Kimberly Law obituary, Death; The Upshur County, Texas community is in mourning following a devastating early-morning crash that claimed the lives of Joel Mack and Kimberly Law on U.S. Highway 259 in the Diana area.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal collision occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday when Mack was traveling northbound and was struck head-on by an SUV driven by Kimberly Law. Authorities confirmed that Law was pronounced dead at the scene. Mack was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

Joel Mack was widely known in the Longview healthcare community as a respected nurse practitioner at Hospitality Health ER. Colleagues described him as one of the original members of their provider team and a deeply compassionate caregiver whose kindness extended far beyond his professional duties.
In a statement, Hospitality Health ER paid tribute to him, saying he represented “the best of us,” highlighting his generosity, humor, and unwavering commitment to patients and colleagues. They noted that his loss leaves an irreplaceable void within the organization and the lives he touched.
Kimberly Law was also deeply respected in the community, serving Longview ISD for 25 years as a dedicated educator. School officials remembered her as a committed teacher, mother, grandmother, and friend who poured her heart into her work and the students she served. Foster Middle School Principal Mary Taylor also honored her legacy, describing her as someone who worked tirelessly to support every child’s success.
The tragic crash has left families, coworkers, students, and friends across the region in deep grief, as both victims are remembered for lives devoted to service, care, and compassion.
