Authorities are investigating a violent early Sunday morning shooting near the University of Iowa campus that left multiple people injured and prompted a large emergency response in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Iowa City Police Department confirmed that several victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment following the incident. Officials have not yet released the total number of injured or the severity of their conditions.

“At this time, multiple victims have been taken to area hospitals to be treated for wounds suffered in the shooting,” police said in a statement. “No information on their conditions is available at this time.”
According to authorities, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:46 a.m. to the 100 block of East College Street after reports of a large fight in the area. As officers arrived, they reportedly heard gunshots, turning the situation into an active and rapidly evolving emergency.
The University of Iowa issued emergency alerts to students and residents, warning of gunfire near the intersection of College and Clinton streets. In an update at 2:03 a.m., the university confirmed that victims had been located and first responders were actively treating those injured.
“First responders on scene. Confirmed victims,” the alert stated. “Please continue to avoid the area.”
Emergency crews quickly began rendering aid, and multiple individuals were transported for medical care. As of the latest update, officials have not confirmed any fatalities, though unverified reports circulating online have suggested that a 22-year-old woman may have died. Authorities have not confirmed any deaths.
No arrests have been made at this time, and investigators have not released details regarding a possible motive or whether a suspect has been identified. The scene remains under active investigation.
