Beech Grove is in mourning following the tragic death of Brian Elliott, who was fatally shot while responding to a disturbance Monday evening at the Beech Meadow Apartments.
Authorities reported that Elliott and a fellow officer were dispatched to the scene when a suspect opened fire, critically wounding Elliott. He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where he later died. A second officer was also injured but is expected to recover.
The suspect, identified by law enforcement, remains at large. In response, the Indiana State Police issued a Blue Alert and coordinated a multi-agency manhunt, deploying helicopters, closing streets, and urging residents to remain vigilant.
Elliott, a Beech Grove native, had served just over a year with the Beech Grove Police Department and previously with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. He is remembered by colleagues, friends, and community members as a dedicated officer and hometown hero whose courage and commitment to public service left an enduring impact.
The Beech Grove community honors Elliott’s memory, reflecting on a life devoted to protecting others and a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
