Toryann McFarlane Obituary-Death – The Riviera Beach community is mourning the devastating loss of 16-year-old Toryann McFarlane, a recent high school graduate who died in a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 early Wednesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred shortly after midnight in the northbound lanes of I-95 near the Blue Heron Boulevard exit. Investigators said McFarlane was driving a Nissan Altima when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle for reasons that remain under investigation.
Troopers said the car traveled onto the outside shoulder, where it struck a guardrail and concrete barrier before re-entering the roadway. The Altima eventually became disabled and stopped in the outside center lane of the highway.
Authorities stated that McFarlane exited the vehicle and was leaning into the back-seat area when a BMW traveling northbound crashed into the right side of the disabled car. The impact threw the teenager onto the outside shoulder. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the collision, the BMW continued forward and struck a concrete wall before coming to a stop along the shoulder and outside lane. A third vehicle also became involved after the driver attempted to avoid the wreckage but collided with the disabled Altima.
Officials said a 21-year-old man was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening, while another driver involved in the incident was not injured.
The crash led to the closure of all northbound lanes of I-95 for several hours as investigators worked to process the scene and clear debris from the roadway.
McFarlane’s death has left family members, classmates, and friends heartbroken, especially as she had celebrated her graduation from Inlet Grove Community High School just two days earlier. Those who knew her described her as caring, supportive, and filled with positive energy.
Close friend J’Ziyiah Black reflected on their friendship, saying they had been close since freshman year and remembered Toryann’s bright smile and joyful spirit during graduation celebrations.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances that caused the teenager to lose control of the vehicle.
