Kaitlyn Graves Obituary-Death – Authorities in north Harris County are investigating a homicide after a 22-year-old woman was found dead inside her apartment earlier this week.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to The Arden apartment complex located at 905 Cypress Station Drive near Hollow Tree Lane for a welfare check. Family members reportedly became concerned after they had been unable to contact their daughter for several days.
Investigators said relatives reached out to apartment management, who entered the residence and discovered the woman’s body inside.
The victim was later identified as 22-year-old Kaitlyn Graves, who authorities said lived alone at the apartment.
Sgt. Jason Brown with the sheriff’s office homicide division stated that Graves had suffered “pretty severe trauma.” Officials later confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide investigation after detectives determined she sustained blunt force trauma injuries. The official cause of death is expected to be determined by the medical examiner.
Authorities said there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment, leading investigators to believe the suspect may have been someone known to the victim. At this time, detectives do not believe the killing was a random act.
Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the apartment complex and surrounding areas while also interviewing neighbors, family members, and individuals connected to Graves. Officials said she may have been deceased for several days before her body was discovered.
Detectives are working to establish a timeline of her final known movements and are reviewing her recent activities and relationships in an effort to determine what may have led to the deadly incident.
No suspects have been publicly identified as the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
