Rickey Boone Jr. Obituary, Death; The community of West Windsor is grieving the devastating loss of 22-year-old Rickey Boone Jr., whose life was cut short in a late-night single-vehicle crash in Lawrence Township.
Authorities say the crash occurred around 11:07 p.m. Thursday along Brunswick Pike near the Kelly Viaduct, close to Quakerbridge Mall. According to the Lawrence Township Police Department, officers responded after a witness reported hearing a crash and spotting a vehicle submerged in water near 3320 Brunswick Pike.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the vehicle fully submerged, with no indication that the driver had been able to escape. Responders from the Lawrence Township Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, and the Trenton Fire Department Water Rescue Team worked to recover the occupant. Rickey Boone Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate he was driving a 2012 Honda CR-V northbound when he lost control, left the roadway, and entered the water. Officials confirmed no other vehicles were involved, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Rickey was a former student-athlete at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, where he played basketball during the 2021–22 season, before continuing his athletic journey at Mercer County Community College for the 2022–2023 men’s basketball season.
In a heartfelt tribute, the college described him as a key member of the team who helped turn the program around and as someone who brought positivity wherever he went. Those who knew him remember a young man full of energy, kindness, and light—qualities that left a lasting impression on teammates, coaches, and friends.
His sudden passing has left family, friends, and the wider community in deep mourning. While his life was tragically cut short, Rickey Boone Jr. will be remembered for his spirit, his passion, and the joy he brought to those around him.
