According to the Yuma Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:48 p.m. to reports of “shots fired” in the 500 block of S. 15th Avenue. When authorities arrived, they found Valentín unresponsive on the ground and immediately began life-saving efforts at the scene.

Investigators say a white four-door sedan entered the area, fired multiple rounds, and then fled southbound on 15th Avenue. One of the bullets struck Valentín Morales. He was transported to Onvida Health, where he later died from his injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing at least three male suspects inside the vehicle, described as Black or Hispanic. Police have confirmed that the case remains under active investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The sudden loss has devastated his loved ones, especially as Valentín had just turned 18 the previous month and was beginning a new chapter of his life filled with hopes, goals, and plans for the future.
