Born on July 20, 2002, in Brooklyn, John Hudson was raised in the Tottenville neighborhood, where he grew up surrounded by family and community. From a young age, he stood out not only for his resilience but also for his determination to make a difference in the lives of others.

Living with Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare genetic disorder, John Hudson became a powerful advocate for those affected by the condition. His voice and efforts helped raise awareness and inspire many, earning him recognition as one of Staten Island’s most influential people in 2016. Through his work with the EB Research Partnership, he dedicated himself to improving the lives of others facing similar challenges.
Beyond his advocacy, John Hudson was known for his vibrant personality and wide range of interests. He had a passion for cooking, a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, and a love for The Walt Disney Company—especially collecting and trading pins. He was also a devoted fan of the New York Rangers and enjoyed all things related to the Marvel universe.
Family remained at the center of his life. He is survived by his mother Faye, sister Kalilla, brother Teak, and brother-in-law Pascal, along with his grandparents and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, John Dilgen, and other beloved family members.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians RC Church.
John Hudson Dilgen is being remembered as a courageous advocate, a loving son and brother, and a young man whose life, though short, left a lasting impact on countless people. His legacy of strength, compassion, and advocacy will continue to inspire for years to come.
