
I’sis Garza Obituary, Death; A tragic incident in Odessa has left the community in shock following the fatal shooting of 22-year-old I’sis Garza, with authorities confirming an arrest in connection to the case.
According to the Odessa Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. on April 21, 2026, to the High Plains Apartments located at 3727 Andrews Highway after receiving reports of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered Garza unresponsive on the ground.

Police immediately began administering CPR in an effort to save her life, but despite those efforts, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities confirmed that her next of kin have been notified.
Investigators quickly identified 22-year-old David Dewayne Horn Jr. as the suspect. Officials say he fled the scene in a Dodge Charger before being located traveling south on Grant Avenue. Officers conducted a traffic stop and took him into custody, transporting him to the police department for questioning.
During the investigation, authorities say Horn admitted to shooting Garza, whom he identified as his common-law wife, following an argument. Based on the evidence gathered, detectives obtained a warrant charging him with murder, classified as a first-degree felony.
Horn has since been formally arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center, where he remains in custody as the case proceeds.
The Odessa Police Department confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. Meanwhile, the loss of I’sis Garza has left family, friends, and the wider Odessa community mourning a young life taken far too soon.
