According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:02 p.m. at the intersection of Harris Avenue and 290th Street. Investigators say a pickup truck collided with a side-by-side UTV, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times before coming to rest upside down in a nearby field.

Authorities confirmed that Rath, who was a passenger in the UTV, was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The UTV driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines for urgent medical treatment. Two others were also involved in the incident.
