Authorities have identified the victim as Caleb Seth Pender, who died following a single-vehicle collision on Midway Road near Storm Lane in Stony Point.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, troopers responded at approximately 10:43 p.m. on April 14, 2026, after reports of a serious crash. Investigators say Pender was riding a 2002 Honda CBR600 motorcycle westbound when the bike veered off the left side of the roadway. The motorcycle then struck a fence, overturned, and ejected the rider during the impact.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided medical assistance at the scene before transporting Pender to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he was later pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.
Troopers have indicated that speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the crash, though the investigation is still ongoing as officials work to determine the full sequence of events.
Midway Road was temporarily closed for about an hour as investigators documented the scene and reconstructed the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
