Authorities stated that the stolen vehicle was driven at high speed and struck a silver minivan, causing it to spin out before continuing through the intersection of Essex and Charleston Boulevard. The Hyundai later crashed into a rock and a light pole.

Police confirmed that Saragosa suffered critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the minivan sustained minor injuries, while the passenger was not hurt.

Investigators said Saragosa and Allen did not know each other prior to the incident. Allen was arrested at the scene and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on multiple charges, including open murder with a deadly weapon, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, and first-degree kidnapping.
