According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded around 8:40 p.m. to reports of a disturbance at 5012 E. 7th St., where an altercation among a group of individuals escalated into gunfire in the rear area of the venue. When officers arrived within minutes, they found Barr suffering from severe traumatic injuries.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts at the scene, Zach Barr was pronounced dead at 9:02 p.m. Several other individuals involved in the incident were also injured and either transported themselves or were taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities have not yet released updates on their conditions.

The shooting occurred outside Cabana Club, which was later shut down as detectives processed the scene. Police confirmed that no weapon has been recovered and no arrests have been made at this time.

Investigators believe many of those involved fled the area before law enforcement arrived. While officials have described the shooting as an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public, the violence has left the community shaken.
