Derrick served as a Senior Portfolio Manager at BlackRock Alternative Investors since 2021, following leadership roles at IMB Partners and The Carlyle Group. He also gained valuable experience at Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe and Lehman Brothers. A University of Maryland graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Derrick earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and was widely respected for his expertise in financial modeling, analysis, and strategic investment management, as well as his mentorship of peers and colleagues.
Beyond his professional achievements, Derrick was beloved for his warmth, dedication, and devotion to his family. In lieu of flowers, his family requests contributions to support the care and education of his children via Zelle or a GoFundMe established in his memory.
