Upon arrival, deputies found Ms. Tapia suffering from a severe laceration. Emergency responders performed life-saving measures and transported her to a local trauma center. Despite efforts by hospital staff, she tragically died from her injuries.

Investigators detained the caller, identified as 66-year-old Pablo Villasenor. Authorities noted that Villasenor had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was treated at a hospital before being released. A search warrant at the residence resulted in the recovery of a firearm and knife believed to have been used in the incident. Villasenor was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on a charge of murder. Officials have stated the investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.
