The community of Anderson County is grieving the tragic passing of John Robert Simpson, 63, who died Thursday following injuries sustained in a grass fire on his property. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel and medical care, John’s life was cut short, leaving family, friends, and neighbors deeply saddened.
A lifelong resident, John was widely respected for his dedication to family, his work, and his community. He contributed extensively to construction and land management projects, earning admiration for his skill, reliability, and work ethic. Beyond his professional achievements, John was a committed volunteer, always willing to assist neighbors and support community initiatives.

Friends and neighbors remember John for his quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering dependability. “John was a cornerstone of our community and a man who cared deeply for his family and neighbors,” said a local friend. John’s greatest devotion was to his family. He was a loving husband to Linda Simpson, a devoted father to Matthew Simpson and Jessica Rowe, and a proud grandfather to Aiden, Lily, and Harper. His love, guidance, and presence were the heart of his family’s life and will remain cherished forever.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 26, from 4–7 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Anderson, with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family has requested that donations in John’s memory be made to fire safety education programs or burn survivor charities, causes close to his heart.
