The borough of Kearny, New Jersey, is grieving the sudden loss of Estafania Dilone, 25, whose life ended in a devastating single-vehicle crash in Newark early Saturday morning.
According to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II, the crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Route 21 near Riverside Avenue. Authorities say the vehicle was traveling northbound on the elevated roadway when it lost control, became airborne, breached a barrier, overturned, and came to rest on Riverside Avenue below.

Emergency responders arrived to find Dilone trapped inside the wreckage. She was removed from the vehicle and rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where she was pronounced dead. A passenger in the vehicle survived, suffering minor facial injuries, and was treated at the hospital.
Dilone was a graduate of Bloomfield College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and distinguished herself as a standout member of the school’s basketball program. Known for her leadership and competitive spirit, she left a lasting impression on teammates and coaches alike. At the time of her death, she was working in the sportswear industry, continuing her connection to athletics beyond the court.
Investigators are still reviewing the circumstances that led to the crash. Officials have not released additional details as the inquiry remains active.
Dilone’s family has indicated that information regarding her obituary, memorial services, and funeral arrangements will be shared at a later date.
Her passing has left a deep void in the Kearny community, where she is remembered for her talent, ambition, and the promise of a future cut tragically short.
