A fatal single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 21-year-old Port Chester resident, according to local authorities.

The Port Chester Police Department, along with Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS, responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle accident around 1:30 a.m. on Boston Post Road near Olivia Street. Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle that had struck a utility pole.

Officials said the driver, later identified as Amy Josabeth Munguia, was ejected from the vehicle due to the force of the crash. Despite emergency medical personnel being on scene, Munguia was pronounced dead.

Authorities released her identity after notifying her family. The crash led to the closure of Boston Post Road for several hours as emergency crews worked and investigators examined the scene. The roadway reopened to traffic around 8:30 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Port Chester Police Department.
