
Matthew Rodriguez Obituary, Death; Authorities in San Angelo have charged a 17-year-old with murder following the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Isaiah Bailon outside a local recreation center.
According to the San Angelo Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 5:24 p.m. Thursday at the Northside Recreation Center. Upon arrival, they discovered Bailon suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators later identified 17-year-old Matthew Rodriguez as the suspect. Detectives say preliminary findings indicate that Bailon and Rodriguez had been involved in an illegal firearm transaction shortly before the shooting occurred, which ultimately led to the deadly encounter.
Rodriguez was taken into custody and formally charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Tom Green County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
The case has been led by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, with support from multiple specialized units, including the Gang Unit, Narcotics Division, Special Operations Unit, K9 Unit, Drone Unit, and Crime Scene Investigations team.
As the investigation continues, authorities say they are working to gather additional evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
