According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle collision occurred around 12:16 p.m. on April 23 along State Route 93 in Lawrence Township. Investigators said Simon was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra northbound when his vehicle crossed left of center and collided head-on with a southbound 2018 Chevrolet Silverado.

The impact was severe, forcing both vehicles off the roadway and causing significant damage. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Simon suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed he had to be mechanically extricated from his vehicle due to the extent of the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, identified as 70-year-old Terry L. Evans of Massillon, was transported to Aultman Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. A passenger in Evans’ vehicle was not injured.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including local fire and EMS units, law enforcement, and towing services, as crews worked to manage the aftermath and begin an investigation.
