De’Travion Brown Obituary, Death; A 17-year-old juvenile from Hemingway has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 19-year-old De’Travion Brown, according to the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities confirmed the suspect faces charges of Murder under S.C. Code 16-03-0010 and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

The shooting dates back to March 9, 2024, when deputies responded to a report of gunfire at 220 Poston Street in Hemingway. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle parked in a driveway with an unresponsive male inside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders from Williamsburg County EMS attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead by the Williamsburg County Coroner’s Office. The victim was later identified as 19-year-old De’Travion Brown.

Investigators say Brown had traveled to the location in a vehicle with an acquaintance and the juvenile suspect. While at the residence, the suspect allegedly expressed an intent to harm Brown while armed with an AR-style firearm. Authorities state the suspect then approached the vehicle where Brown was seated in the front passenger seat and opened fire before fleeing the scene with assistance from others.

After an extensive investigation, the suspect was located and arrested on April 21, 2026, through a coordinated effort involving the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, and the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office. The juvenile was subsequently transferred to the custody of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.

Officials say the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (843) 713-8477.

The case continues to draw attention as the community reflects on the violent incident that took a young life and led to a major criminal investigation spanning multiple agencies.
