Investigators say preliminary findings suggest the incident stemmed from a pre-arranged confrontation involving juveniles. When the groups met at the park, the situation quickly escalated, resulting in multiple individuals exchanging gunfire in a public area.

Upon arrival, officers found people fleeing in different directions. In the parking lot of the park, a 17-year-old male identified as Erubey Romero Medina was discovered with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, 16-year-old Daniel Jimenez Millian, was found further inside the park suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, he was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that a total of seven people were struck by gunfire during the incident. Additional victims were located in the nearby parking area at 3474 Robinhood Road, with injuries ranging from critical to minor. Those injured include teenagers and young adults, and investigators say some individuals may have been involved in the exchange of gunfire.

Officials have not released the identities of juvenile victims in accordance with North Carolina law, and names of adult victims remain withheld as the investigation continues.

The Winston-Salem Police Department has classified the case as active and ongoing, with detectives continuing to gather evidence, review witness statements, and reconstruct the timeline of events.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid sharing unverified information and instead rely on official updates as the investigation develops.

As Winston-Salem mourns, the community is left shaken by a sudden outbreak of violence that claimed young lives and injured several others in a matter of moments, leaving families devastated and investigators searching for answers.
