According to authorities, the fatal collision occurred around 6:57 p.m. Monday on Shelby County 10 near Shelby County 22, approximately three miles north of Montevallo. Officials with the Alabama State Troopers reported that Alvarado was riding a Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS motorcycle when it collided head-on with a Nissan Pathfinder.

Investigators say Alvarado was thrown from the motorcycle upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, identified as 45-year-old Arriaga Alejandro Gonzalez of Montevallo, sustained injuries and was transported to Baptist Health Shelby Hospital for treatment.
