According to court documents, investigators believe Malave assaulted and suffocated Makor before abandoning her vehicle at Harrisburg International Airport and fleeing to Puerto Rico. Police say he remains at large as the investigation continues. A motive has not been publicly released.
Makor’s sudden death has left family, friends, and the wider community in deep shock, particularly as she had recently returned home with plans to celebrate Easter with loved ones and reconnect with family in the Harrisburg area.
Loved ones describe Amanda as a bright, driven, and compassionate young woman whose life was marked by ambition, faith, and service to others. A 2025 honors graduate of Penn State Harrisburg with a degree in marketing and analytics, she had recently begun her professional journey in the field, previously working at Lowe’s in Minnesota with aspirations of becoming a marketing director.
Before her career in marketing, Makor worked as a licensed nursing assistant and home health aide, caring for elderly patients. Family members say she also played an active role in her church community, where she participated in youth ministry, choir, and ushering at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Those closest to her remember her as deeply family-oriented and full of life, someone who brought people together and cherished time with loved ones. Her uncle described her as a “people person” who was known for her kindness, humor, and ability to make others feel supported and included.
Tributes from family highlight her academic achievements, her dedication to caring for others, and her passion for music and community involvement. Loved ones say she lived with purpose and joy, always striving to excel in everything she did.
As investigators continue their search for Malave, the focus for Makor’s family remains on honoring her memory and celebrating the life she lived rather than the tragedy that ended it.
Amanda Makor will be deeply missed and remembered as a loving daughter, devoted family member, and a young woman whose life touched many.
