According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:45 a.m. on April 13, 2026, to reports of a shooting in the Pageland area. Upon arrival, first responders found Carter suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel immediately provided aid before transporting him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities quickly launched a homicide investigation, gathering evidence and working to identify the suspect responsible for the deadly shooting.
Investigators later identified Reggie Martavious Ivey, 27, of Pageland, as the suspect. Officials say Ivey fled the area in a vehicle shortly after the incident, prompting a coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies.
The Monroe Police Department was alerted and utilized Flock Safety License Plate Reader technology to locate the suspect’s vehicle at the Icemorlee Apartment Complex. Officers conducted surveillance while coordinating a safe arrest operation.
With assistance from the Union County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, authorities approached the suspect around noon and took him into custody without incident.
Ivey has since been arrested on an outstanding murder warrant from Chesterfield County, and officials have indicated that additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater extended condolences to the victim’s family, reaffirming the department’s commitment to seeking justice and holding those responsible accountable.
