According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Walmart Nitro Marketplace after coworkers became concerned when Williams failed to return from her break. When officers arrived, they discovered her unresponsive inside her vehicle and forced entry by breaking a rear window, where they found she had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, authorities identified Eric Dewayne Richmond, 54, as the suspect in the case. Officials confirmed that Richmond, who shares children with Williams, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.
