Rachel Tussey Obituary, GoFundMe; The family of Rachel Tussey, a 47-year-old mother from Ohio, is mourning her sudden death following alleged complications from a tummy tuck procedure.
Tussey shared her preparation for the surgery with her over 25,000 TikTok followers, documenting her consultation with the doctor and expressing optimism about the procedure. In one video posted before Feb. 25, she said, “Please pray. I know it’s gonna be great. I’ve waited a really long time for this… I’m in good hands, I know God’s got my back. Let’s do this.”
Tragically, complications arose following the surgery. According to Tussey’s husband, Jeremy Tussey, she became unresponsive shortly after the procedure. Despite efforts by hospital staff, she was later placed on life support at TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital. Jeremy revealed on TikTok that Rachel had been without oxygen for over six minutes, leaving her brain dead. He made the heartbreaking decision to remove her from life support.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Rachel’s family. The fundraiser describes her as “truly full of life… who loved adventure, cherished her family deeply, and lived as an example of what community and compassion should look like.” Rachel is survived by her husband and their three children, Tristan, Alec, and Livi.
The family has retained a lawyer but has not yet filed a lawsuit against the surgeon. Jeremy Tussey told WXIX-TV that he intends to understand how the surgery led to such a tragic outcome, saying, “To me, it looks like incompetence. Somebody dropped the ball here.”
Friends, followers, and community members continue to share messages of support for the Tussey family as they grieve the loss of Rachel, whose life was described as full of warmth, generosity, and care for others.
