Swedish Hospital Shooting; A tense situation unfolded Thursday evening when a police officer from Cherry Hills Village shot a suspect inside a hospital in Englewood, authorities confirmed.
According to the Cherry Hills Village Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. inside HCA HealthONE Swedish, a major medical facility located along East Hampden Avenue. During the encounter, an officer discharged their firearm, striking a suspect inside the hospital building.
Officials said the individual who was shot was immediately taken for treatment at the same hospital where the shooting occurred. Authorities have not yet released details about the suspect’s condition or identity.
Police also confirmed that no officers were injured during the incident. However, investigators have not provided information about what led to the confrontation inside the medical center.
The case has now been handed over to the 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team, which will oversee the investigation into the officer-involved shooting. This team typically handles major incidents involving law enforcement agencies across the district to ensure an independent review.
