Levi Allen Roper Obituary, Death; Authorities in Owasso are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian collision that claimed the life of Levi Allen Roper, 41, of Tulsa, on the morning of Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
According to the Owasso Police Department, emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 10:20 a.m. to the 8700 block of southbound US 169 after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian. Officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel arrived to find Roper in the southbound lanes of the highway. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reported that the vehicle involved was located parked in the center median with front-end damage consistent with an auto-pedestrian impact. The driver, who was described as shaken but not physically injured, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and a routine blood draw. After being interviewed by investigators, the driver was released. Police said there is currently no indication of criminal wrongdoing.
Owasso Police Collision Reconstructionists, assisted by the department’s Drone Team, conducted a detailed examination of the scene. Southbound lanes of US 169 were closed for more than two hours while evidence was collected and measurements were taken. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
Authorities said the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of Roper following the incident. Police also clarified that he was not a construction worker and was not associated with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The collision occurred near the northern end of a 55-mile-per-hour construction zone related to the US 169 widening project and well after the morning rush hour.
The fatal crash marks the fifth motor vehicle-related death reported in Owasso since the beginning of 2026. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information to contact the Owasso Police Department.
