PEARL RIVER, New York — Robert W. Ulrich, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected pillar of the Pearl River community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by his family. His passing has left a deep void for relatives, friends, and neighbors who admired his warmth, generosity, and steadfast presence.
Born on June 5, 1947, in Rockland County, Ulrich grew up in a family that valued loyalty, hard work, and kindness. After graduating from Pearl River High School, he served honorably in the United States Army, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong commitment to service and community.
Upon returning home, Ulrich established a successful career in local business and later founded Ulrich & Sons Contracting, which earned a reputation for quality, integrity, and community focus. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was deeply committed to family life, sharing a loving 52-year marriage with his wife, Margaret “Maggie” (née Sullivan) Ulrich. Together, they raised three children — Michael (Laura), Karen (Christopher) Davis, and Robert Jr. (Anna) Ulrich — and were proud grandparents to Emily, Joshua, Sophie, Ethan, and Claire.
Ulrich’s devotion extended to the wider community. He served on the board of the Pearl River Rotary Club, volunteered with local veterans’ organizations, and was an active presence at numerous charity events. Friends recall his welcoming smile, his generosity, and the way he made everyone feel valued. “He was the kind of man who made you feel like family from the moment you met him,” said a longtime friend and fellow volunteer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, from 3–7 p.m. at Pearl River Funeral Home. A funeral mass will follow on Sunday at 11 a.m. at St. Aedan’s Roman Catholic Church, with interment at Peter’s Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rockland County Veterans Service Agency or the Pearl River Community Outreach Fund.
Robert W. Ulrich’s life was defined by love, service, and leadership. His impact will endure through his family, the countless lives he touched, and the community he helped build.
