Port Jefferson, NY – The Long Island community is grappling with a shocking tragedy following the deaths of Valerie Kopetic, 63, a longtime social services professional, and her partner, 68-year-old Paul Trefimovich, in an apparent murder-suicide at their Port Jefferson residence.
Suffolk County police report that Trefimovich fatally shot Kopetic before taking his own life. Their bodies were discovered Monday morning after Kopetic failed to show up for work. Officers responding around 11 a.m. confirmed both victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
