A tragic incident early Monday morning on Interstate 69 claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy, authorities confirmed. The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Nathan Thomas Snyder of Newburgh.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call shortly after midnight reporting a person walking in the roadway on I-69, just west of the Covert Avenue exit. A short time later, a second 911 call reported that the individual had been struck by a vehicle.

Nathan was pronounced dead as a result of the collision. The circumstances that led to his presence on the interstate remain under investigation.
