A tragic incident early Monday morning on Interstate 69 claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy, authorities confirmed. The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Nathan Thomas Snyder of Newburgh.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call shortly after midnight reporting a person walking in the roadway on I-69, just west of the Covert Avenue exit. A short time later, a second 911 call reported that the individual had been struck by a vehicle.
Nathan was pronounced dead as a result of the collision. The circumstances that led to his presence on the interstate remain under investigation.
Authorities have not yet released details about the vehicle involved or whether any contributing factors played a role in the crash. Investigators are continuing to examine the scene and review available information.
