Toronto police have identified the victim in a fatal shooting at Woodbine Shopping Centre as 37-year-old Chandan Kumar Raja Nandakumar of Brampton.
The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon, February 7, 2026, at approximately 3:31 p.m., in the mall’s parking lot near Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27. Officers responding to the scene found Nandakumar inside a white SUV suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including shots that struck the vehicle’s windshield. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Toronto Police Service Homicide and Missing Persons Unit has assumed control of the investigation. The case marks Toronto’s third homicide of 2026.
Investigators believe the shooting was targeted. Police say a suspect or suspects were seen fleeing the area in a vehicle shortly after the incident. As of Sunday evening, no suspect descriptions had been released.
