A late-morning crash on Wortendyke Road left an 80-year-old Batavia woman with serious injuries on Friday, prompting a response from multiple emergency agencies, according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the collision occurred around 11 a.m. on a stretch of Wortendyke Road between Rose Road and Pike Road in the Town of Batavia. Dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a serious motor vehicle accident, and first responders were quickly sent to the scene.
Investigators determined that the crash involved a 2022 gray Dodge Ram pickup traveling northbound and a 2011 black Chevrolet Equinox heading southbound. The pickup was driven by Jed A. Balduf, 47, of Alexander, while the Equinox was operated by Judy L. Green, 80, of Batavia.
The impact left Green trapped inside her vehicle. Firefighters from the Town of Batavia Fire Department worked to free her from the wreckage before she was transported by Mercy EMS to Erie County Medical Center, where she is being treated for serious injuries.
Officials confirmed that both vehicles had only one occupant at the time of the crash. No information has been released regarding injuries to the pickup driver.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team is continuing to investigate what caused the collision. Deputies were assisted at the scene by local firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and bystanders who stopped to provide immediate help.
No additional details have been made public as the investigation remains ongoing.
