Authorities have released the identity of a teenager killed in a shooting Thursday night in East Harris County, confirming 17-year-old Jayden Ford as the victim.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred near the 200 block of Uvalde Road in the Woodforest area. Investigators said Ford was visiting friends at an apartment complex when he was confronted by a suspect during an attempted robbery.

Detectives reported that the suspect, who was armed with a handgun and wearing a hoodie and mask, shot Ford during the encounter. Emergency crews responded quickly, but Ford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled on foot along with several other individuals, investigators said. Authorities also noted that a dark-colored vehicle was seen leaving the area shortly after the incident, though its involvement has not been confirmed.
