Camille McClanahan and James Hall death
Officials in Pendleton County are investigating a deadly domestic incident after two adults were found dead outside a residence late Saturday night.

According to the Pendleton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 1900 block of Hogg Ridge Road around 11 p.m. on February 1, 2026, to conduct a welfare check on 40-year-old Camille McClanahan. When deputies arrived, they discovered McClanahan deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Nearby, investigators found a 50-year-old man, identified as James Hall, also dead at the scene. Authorities believe Hall died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Based on preliminary findings, officials have described the incident as an apparent murder-suicide tied to a domestic situation.

At the request of the sheriff’s office, the investigation was turned over to detectives from Kentucky State Police Post 6 in Dry Ridge. While the incident is believed to be domestic-related, investigators have not released details regarding a possible motive, and no note has been disclosed.

Pendleton County EMS and the county coroner responded to assist at the scene. Law enforcement secured the roadway and surrounding area for several hours as evidence was collected and investigators worked to reconstruct the sequence of events.

The incident has rattled the tight-knit Pendleton County community, where neighbors said violent crimes of this nature are uncommon. Residents expressed shock and sadness, offering support and condolences to the families affected by the loss.

As the investigation continues, authorities say they will provide updates if additional information becomes available. In the meantime, officials and community leaders are encouraging residents to lean on one another during a time of mourning and uncertainty.
