Houston, TX – The Houston community is reeling from the tragic death of Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr., 33, who was fatally shot on January 28, 2026, following a dispute over money. Family, friends, and neighbors are grappling with the loss of a man remembered for his warmth, humor, and devotion to those around him.

Authorities from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of Joseph Plattenburg, 41, and Jordyn Wells, 27, who have been charged with murder in connection with Gonzalez’s death. Officials stated that the suspects shot Jorge during an altercation, and credited the swift arrests to the diligent work of homicide detectives and SWAT teams.

Beyond the circumstances of his death, Jorge will be remembered as a loving father, devoted son, caring brother, and loyal friend.
